Why doesn’t the Lord answer
our prayers?

Message #18 (of 20) from the PrayerPower radio series
"
Asking - God’s Way"

by Kaye Johns

There can be many reasons why the Lord doesn’t answer a particular prayer. But if this is the pattern of a person’s prayer life, it’s an indication something is wrong.

Sometimes the problem is the most fundamental one: he or she is not a child of God, has not been born again into the kingdom of God [John 1:12] through belief in Jesus as the Son of God [John 3:36] Who died for our sins [Hebrews 7:27]. Jesus taught that no one comes to the Father except through Him [John 14:6]. Paul taught that our access to the Father is through Jesus [Ephsians 3:18]. Hebrews tells us our access into the presence of God is "by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened through the curtain of His body." [Hebrews 10:19-20]

Church attendance does not make anyone a child of God. Nor do Christian parents, nor a grandmother’s prayers. We are saved by faith in Jesus Christ [Ephesians 2:8], and the evidence that this has happened is a changed heart [Ezekiel 36:26]. God’s children don’t become full-grown and mature in the Christian life all at once, but from the moment of rebirth in Christ, we begin to be different and to grow in the Lord.

If you are not sure that you have experienced this change of heart through faith in Christ, you may want to pray with me now: Lord, I believe that Jesus is Your Son, Who died for my sins, and I receive Him now as my Savior and Lord. Help me to grow in You, that I may know I am Your child. In Jesus’ name, amen.
