Does our worship reflect personal
experience with the Lord?

Message #16 (of 20) from the PrayerPower radio series
"Worship in Prayer"

by Kaye Johns

Our prayers of worship reveal the depth of our personal experience with the Lord. No man’s prayers are a greater example of this than David’s, the man after God’s own heart.

"O Lord God of our father Israel, praise your name for ever and ever! Yours is the mighty power and glory and victory and majesty. Everything in the heavens and earth is yours, O Lord, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as being in control of everything. Riches and honor come from you alone, and you are the Ruler of mankind; your hand controls power and might, and it is at your discretion that men are made great and given strength." [1 Chronicles 29:10-13, TLB]

David’s prayer of worship was deeply felt because of his experience with the Lord. He had known God’s mighty power, glory, victory and majesty, as he was delivered time and from enemy hands.

After years of running and hiding, the Lord had faithfully sustained David, and he learned God had been in control all the time. As the shepherd boy made king, he knew his riches and honor had come from the Lord alone. He had witnessed God’s power and might, as he had seen Goliath slain.

David lived in a continual love relationship with the Lord, and his worship was deeply personal, as ours can be.

Pray with me now -- Lord, help us to be people after Your own heart. May our experience with You be as real as David’s, our worship as complete. In Jesus’ name, amen.
