Do we see the Lord as holy?
Message
#15 (of 20) from the PrayerPower radio series
The apostle John, when he was given The Revelation, fell at Jesus feet as though dead. [Revelation 1:17] When Paul met the risen Lord on the road to Damascus, He fell to the ground and was blind for three days [Acts 9:4, 8].When Isaiah saw the Lord seated on a throne, he could only cry, "Woe to me! I am ruined. For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty." [Isaiah 6:1-5]The Lord is our Father. Jesus is our Friend. The Holy Spirit is our Comforter. But as we pray, we must never forget the reaction of these men who saw the Lord. Even John, the apostle whom Jesus loved, fell to the ground as though dead. We neednt fall to the ground, but worship as an integral part of our prayers must surely include recognition of the holiness of God. In Isaiah the seraphim were calling, "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty." [Isaiah 6:3] And in The Revelation, the living creatures around the throne never stop saying, "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty." [Revelation 4:8]God is love. He is patient and merciful, but "holy, holy, holy" is the prayer around the throne. Should it not be the cry of our hearts too, as we worship our Lord?
Pray with me now -- Father, help us never to forget that You are our Most High God, that Jesus is Lord of Lords and King of Kings, that Your Spirit is the Holy Spirit. In Jesus name, amen.
