Do we worship the Lord in the way we live?

Message #14 (of 20) from the PrayerPower radio series
"Worship in Prayer"

by Kaye Johns

Everything about our lives is meant to be an expression of worship. We know worship is more than prayer, for in Romans 12 Paul tells us that offering ourselves as living sacrifices is a spiritual act of worship. [Romans 12:1] Jesus gives us the perfect example of a life that is a living sacrifice, for He gave up everything to come and live as an obedient servant, as a sacrificial lamb. His whole life was a spiritual act of worship. Yet He was not satisfied. Nearing the end of His life, He prayed from His heart in John 17: "Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify You." [John 17:1]

Jesus was worshiping the Father by asking to be honored, to be acknowledged for the truth of Who He is, for one purpose only --that He might glorify the Father more than He had ever done before.

What about our lives? Paul says, "Whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." [1 Corinthians 3:10] Do it all--everything in life should be honoring to God. The greatest spiritual act of worship we can offer our Father is to glorify Him, by living in a way that will honor Him--not in our own strength, but in His.

Pray with me now -- Lord, help us to worship You with our lives, honoring You with all that we think, all that we say, all that we do, all that we are. In Jesus’ name, amen.
