Who would you want to pray for you?

Message #1 (of 20) from the PrayerPower radio series
"Becoming a Powerful Pray-er"

by Kaye Johns

I would choose T.W. Hunt because he is a godly man, because he knows the Lord and because he spends much time in prayer. He allows the Lord to awaken Him early to pray, and he is willing to spend the night in prayer. He is humble and unassuming and surrendered to the Lord. As a result, he shares an incredible intimacy with the Lord.

Is T.W. Hunt special? He is, he will tell you, the most ordinary of men. Yet he is closer to the Lord than perhaps anyone else I know. If the Lord let me choose, I would choose him to be my intercessor. Who would you choose, and why? That’s worth considering, because you and I, ordinary people that we are, could be as close to the Lord as T.W. or anyone else we might name. We have the same access to the throne of God, the same right to have our prayers heard, the same promises that God will move in response to our prayers.

We, too, can become powerful pray-ers--if and as we are willing to surrender our lives completely. If and as we are willing to yield to the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit. If and as we are willing to learn to pray in the only way it is possible to learn to pray--by praying.

Pray with me now -- Father, give us the desire to become powerful pray-ers and to trust You to do what it takes in our lives to get there. In Jesus’s name, amen
