Do we have all of God within us?

Message #5 (of 20) from the PrayerPower radio series
"Asking
for the Spirit's Presence"

by Kaye Johns

We know that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit [1 Cor. 6:19], that He indwells us [Rom. 8:11]. But does He fill us, as Paul prayed He would, "to the measure of all the fullness of God" [Eph. 3:19]? One of the descriptions of the Holy Spirit, one of His names, is The Fullness of God.

It is a concept that is beyond us, to know that when we were born again, The Fullness of God came into our lives. Yet, He did.

What is His measure in my life? In yours? How much of our lives do we let Him fill with all that He is? We are told that we must deny self, if we are to take up the cross that Jesus sets before us and follow Him. Denying self is the only way we can experience the measure of all of The Fullness of God, for He has no room to work in our lives if we are full of self.

The longer we walk with the Lord, the more we become aware of self to deny, of yet other areas of our lives to yield. And so we ask our Father to give us the Holy Spirit [Luke 11:13], The Fullness of God. It is only in His strength that we can truly deny self; only through His discernment that we can even know what needs to be denied.

Pray with me now -- Father, we do so ask that You send Your Spirit, The Fullness of God, to bring to us the strength we need to deny self. In Jesus’ name, amen.
