Do we know the Spirit of our Father?

Message #3 (of 20) from the PrayerPower radio series
"Asking
for the Spirit's Presence"

by Kaye Johns

We should, because Spirit of our Father is one of the Holy Spirit’s names, and it reveals one of the ways He wants to work in our lives.

In Matthew 10:20, the Holy Spirit is revealed as the Spirit of our Father. Jesus is telling His disciples they will be arrested by the authorities. He says, "...do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say, for it will not be you speaking but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you."

Now, I’ve never been arrested, but I ask the Spirit of my Father to speak through me all the time, as you can. When we walk in fellowship with Him, He is available to speak through us at any time, to any one, if we will set self aside and ask Him to. And as we do, every word can be anointed for kingdom purposes. Our ability to communicate is at the heart of our relationships, and it is through relationships that we bear His fruit.

In your morning prayers ask your heavenly Father to prepare your heart so that His Spirit might be real in your life. Ask the Spirit of your Father to reveal Himself, and choose to walk with Him and talk with Him as you move through the day. Allow Him to anoint every word, and He will.

Pray with me now -- Father, may Your Spirit be real to us. May He speak through us, no matter how casual the conversation. In Jesus’s name, amen.
