Do we know the Spirit of Wisdom?
Message
#16 (of 20) from the PrayerPower radio series
In Ephesians 1, Paul writes out one of his beautiful prayers for the Ephesians: "I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better." [Eph. 1:17] That we may know Christ--better than what? Better than we knew Him yesterday. Better than last week, last month, last year. That we may progressively know Him better. Paul doesnt say he asked the Father just one time to give them the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, but that he kept asking. This is an encouraging prayer, because it underscores what Jesus said in Luke 11, that we should ask our heavenly Father to give us the Holy Spirit, knowing that He desires to give Him when we ask [Luke 11:13]. We not only ask for Gods Spirit for ourselves, but we can ask God to give Him to others. Paul was writing to the church at Ephesus, to Christians, to those who had already received the Holy Spirit. He was asking for an ever-greater measure of the fullness of the Spirit--for more of His wisdom, more of His revelation--that they might know Christ better than they ever had. Do we ask for the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation for ourselves and those we love?
Pray with me now -- Father, we ask now, that the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation will manifest His presence in our lives, that we might know Jesus better. We ask in His name, amen.
