Are we filled with The Promise of God?
Message

We should be, for the Holy Spirit is identified several times in Scripture as The Promise [Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4; 2:33; 2:39; Gal. 3:14]. We receive Him by faith, at the moment of our salvation, and daily as we ask the Father to give Him [Luke 11:13] in greater measure than we have ever experienced that we might live the Spirit-filled life [Eph. 5:18]. The Holy Spirits name, The Promise, should fill us with excitement and anticipation of the life we can and will be able to live in His strength. He is given without limit [John 3:34]. He is the anointing One who teaches us about all things [1 John 2:27-28]. He is our Helper, Who comes alongside [John 14:16-17] and the Spirit of Truth, Who guides us into all truth [John 16:13]. He is the Spirit of Wisdom, of Understanding, of Counsel and Might, the Spirit of Knowledge and of the Fear of the Lord [Isaiah 11:2]. God knows we cannot live lives that are obedient and pleasing to Him on our own, and that is why He has chosen to come in the person of His Spirit to live within us. He is the embodiment of the promise of God that we can live godly lives, that God Who has begun a good work in us will complete it [Phil. 1:6], that He is working in us to will and to act according to His good purpose [Phil 2:13]. Is this evident to others? Do they see The Promise of God fulfilled in our lives?
Pray with me now -- Father, we ask You to give Your Promise to us today, that in and through us He can live for You. In Jesus name, amen.
