Do we know the Breath of Jehovah?

Message #12 (of 20) from the PrayerPower radio series
"Asking
for the Spirit's Presence"

by Kaye Johns

The Holy Spirit is identified in Isaiah as the Breath of Jehovah [Is. 40:7], and in John we read, "And with that [Jesus] breathed on them and said, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit.’" [John 20:22] God’s Spirit is our spiritual breath, and without Him, we have no spiritual life.

As the Breath of Jehovah, the Holy Spirit brings Jehovah to dwell in us so intimately that He is like the very breath that sustains our life. We know Him as Jehovah-Jireh, our Provider; Jehovah-Rophe, our Healer; Jehovah-Shalom, our Peace; Jehovah-Rohi, our Shepherd; and more. As the Breath of Jehovah, we can experience Him in all these ways. He lives within us, waiting to express Himself in answer to our prayers. The question is, how do we want the Breath of Jehovah to express Himself in our lives today? Who do we need Him to be?

We should think about that, because Jesus taught us to ask our Father for His Spirit [Luke 11:13]. Though He indwells us from the moment of salvation, we ask for His presence daily to be felt in greater measure than we’ve ever known Him before. Ask the Father for the Breath of Jehovah--and then acknowledge His presence through the day: "Breath of Jehovah, You are my peace. Breath of Jehovah, you are my provider. Breath of Jehovah, breathe in me; I need to sense Your presence."

Pray with me now -- Father, send the Breath of Jehovah to manifest His presence, that we may know how real You are. In Jesus’ name, amen.
