Do we have the Breath of Life?

Message #10 (of 20) from the PrayerPower radio series
"Asking for the Spirit's Presence"

by Kaye Johns

When God puts His New Spirit in us, He comes as the One identified in Revelation 11 as the very Breath of Life: "the two prophets were killed, and after three and a half days, a breath of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet...." [Rev. 11:11]

God’s New Spirit is the Breath of Life, the One Who gives spiritual rebirth [John 3:5], Who regenerates hearts [Titus 3:5], Who makes those who are dead in their sins alive with Christ [Eph. 2:5], Who enables us to see and enter the kingdom of God [John 3:3,5].

The Breath of Life, the very Spirit of Life [Rom. 8:2], not only gives spiritual rebirth, but He indwells us to sustain our life in Christ [Rom. 8:11]. It is His presence that gives us assurance of salvation, for Paul tells us it is the Spirit Himself Who testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children [Rom. 8:14].

We have no other assurance. If the Breath of Life, the very Spirit of Life, indwells us, it is evidence that we have been born again--we are new creations in Christ, the old is gone, the new has come [2 Cor. 5:17]. It doesn’t happen all at once, but it begins to happen--at once. Have you experienced this newness of life?

If not, you may want to pray with me now -- Lord, only You could give me the desire to be born again. I come to give my life to Christ, to acknowledge that He died for my sins, and to ask forgiveness for those sins. I ask for the Breath of Life in His name. Amen.
