To whom do the lost belong?

Message #2 (of 20) from the PrayerPower radio series
"Praying for the Lost"

by Kaye Johns

Do you ever stop to consider that the ones you love who have not received God’s free gift of grace, the grace by which we have been saved [Ephesians 2:5, 8; Titus 3:7] by Jesus Christ [Romans 3:24], stand condemned before God?

Since Eve fell to the temptations of Satan, we have been born into original sin [Romans 5:12-19], separated from our Holy God. We’ve all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God [Romans 3:23]. Jesus said if we do not believe that He is the one He claimed to be, we will indeed die in our sins [John 8:24].

Jesus also said in John 3, speaking of Himself, "...whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son." [John 3:17-18] Before we believe, we’re condemned; we don’t live in a neutral zone until we decide whether or not we believe in Christ and receive Him as personal Savior and Lord.

In fact, those who are not children of the living God through Christ Jesus are in Satan’s domain [Acts 26:17-18]. He is the god of this age [2 Corinthians 4:4], the prince and ruler of this world [John 12:31, 14:30, 15:30-31, 16:11] the one who controls the world except for the children of God [1 John 5:18].

We either belong to the kingdom of darkness--to Satan--or to the kingdom of light, the kingdom of God’s Son. There is no middle ground to protect us, until we choose. We must remember that, when we pray for the lost. Satan is the father of lies, and his biggest lie is that he doesn’t exist, that a loving God would never allow anyone to spend eternity apart from Him. We must stand for the truth in our prayers.

Pray with me now -- Father, give us the strength we need to continue faithfully in our prayers for the lost, no matter how long it takes. In Jesus’ name, amen.
