We must testify
Message
#18 (of 20) from the PrayerPower radio series
Its important that as we pray for those who do not know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we ask the Lord to strengthen and equip us to present the truth of the Gospel to them as best we can. We often pray that God will send someone else into their lives, but He may choose to send us. We must be willing, and prepared. One Scripture that makes an especially appropriate prayer is from Second Timothy--that God will assure us He has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. [2 Timothy 1:7, KJV].Bringing the Gospel to others is really not an option. In John 16, Jesus said, "When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me. And you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning." [John 15:26-27] We who have been and are with Jesus, must testify--and so we ask for His Spirit to enable us.We also pray, as Paul prayed, that when we open our mouths we will be given words to make known the mystery of the Gospel, that we will proclaim it boldly as we should [Ephesians 6:20]. We ask the Lord to impress upon us the truth of Romans 10:14, that the lost cannot call on One they have not believed in, that they cannot believe, if they have not heard. We may be the very one, the only one, they will ever have the chance to hear. We must be willing to ask to be prepared.
Pray with me now -- Father, we do ask for the privilege of bringing our loved ones to the cross, for the enabling and empowering of Your Spirit, in Jesus name, amen.
