With long life will I satisfy him

When Psalm 91 concludes, "With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation" [v.16], do you think the psalmist meant it? This is a psalm about Gods faithfulness, about His desire to protect His children from Satan, who is trying to destroy us -- or, at the very least, destroy our Christian witness. Its not a psalm for everyone, not even for every child of God. One must be in an abiding love relationship, one must be a person of prayer to be assured of His protection. But when we are -- does this mean that He will grant us a long life literally? With many years? My grandmother lived to be 101; should I count on it, too? I think not. But I do believe that I can count on Gods protection, so that I will not be rushed into eternity by one untimely second by Satan or anyone else. That in the fullness of Gods timing, He will take me home. And when He does, the most glorious promise of all -- He will show me His salvation. The Hebrew word for salvation is yshua, which is the same word used for Messiah, for Jesus, our Savior and Lord. At the perfect moment, we will be satisfied our life here is over, absent from the body and present with our Lord, Yshua. This psalm makes a beautiful prayer for the lost whom we love, a cry from our heart for their salvation, for them to know the peace and joy of Gods protection now and throughout eternity.
Pray with me now--Father, hear our cry for those who do not know You, who do not love You, who need the grace of Your salvation. In our Redeemers name, amen.
