How does Jesus spend His time?

Message #5 (of 20) from the PrayerPower radio series
"Intercession - Our Privilege"

by Kaye Johns

For nearly two thousand years, Jesus has been praying for us. Concerning Him, the epistle to the Hebrews tells us "The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind: ‘You are a priest forever.’ ...because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them." [Hebrews 7:21,24-25]

A priest is one who intercedes on behalf of his people. As we are one with Jesus, we too are priests and intercessors. When Jesus ascended, He began and continues praying for us in heaven. And as His Spirit lives in us, we have the power of His prayer life in us. He cannot be other than Intercessor. We share in His intercessions.

It’s profound, but it’s simple. Paul said in Galatians: "I am crucified with Christ; nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me, and the life I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me." [Galatians 2:20]

The life in Him and in us is one and the same, and His life in heaven is a life of continual prayer. When His life descends and takes possession of us, it does not lose its character. It becomes a life of continual prayer in us--if, and when, and as we yield.

Pray with me now -- Lord Jesus, we want You to pray in us and through us and for us. We ask it in Your powerful priestly name. Amen.
