Are we satisfied with our
intercessory prayer lives?

Perhaps a better question would be, is God satisfied? Paul writes in 1 Corinthians that we are Gods fellow workers [1 Corinthians 3:9], and that is never more true than when we pray. In Ezekiel 22 God says, "I looked for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found none." [Ezekiel 22:30] God didnt want to destroy the land because His people had worshiped idols, but He could not find one single intercessor who would stand and pray according to His will for the people. Do we take these verses seriously? God is the same yesterday, today and forever [Hebrews 13:8]; He does not change. [Malachi 3:6] If He looked for someone to pray then, is He different today? Will He move with or without our prayers? If that were true, why should it matter whether or not we pray? Why would Jesus emphasize so many times that we must ask for what we--and others--need? If our prayers are optional, why bother? Why would Jesus have prayed so passionately for His disciples during His last hours on earth? [John 17:6-26] Why would Jesus have used His dying breath to intercede from the cross? [Luke 23:34] God has given us the privilege of being His fellow workers through intercessory prayer--as were willing.
Pray with me now -- Lord, help us make intercession a priority, so that You may use our prayers. In Jesus name, amen.
