Are we bringing others before the throne?

Message #9 (of 20) from the PrayerPower radio series
"
Intercession - Our Responsibility"

by Kaye Johns

If you are listening to my voice now, the Lord is touching your heart to prepare you to intercede, to pray for others. It doesn’t matter if you are a new Christian or a mature disciple--He can and does use us all to pray the prayers He wants to hear. He will inspire us to pray, and He will enable us to live the life that allows Him to hear and to answer--if we will yield to His Spirit within us.

Oswald Chambers in his remarkable devotional book My Utmost for His Highest underscores how important it is that we yield to the Spirit’s intercession through us: "The circumstances of a saint’s life are ordained of God. In the life of a saint there is no such thing as circumstance. ...God is bringing you into places and among people and into conditions in order that the intercession of the [Holy] Spirit in you may take a particular line. ...Your part in intercessory prayer is...to utilize the common-sense circumstances God puts you in, and the common-sense people He puts you among ...to bring them before God’s throne and give the Spirit in you a chance to pray for them. ...The Holy Spirit makes intercession in our particular lives, without which intercession someone will be impoverished." [Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest, pp. 231-232, Barbour]

Without such intercession, someone will be impoverished. Perhaps many someones.

Pray with me now -- Lord, please don’t let a single person be impoverished because we fail to pray. In Jesus’ name, amen.
