Do we find intercession easy?

When we begin to seriously pray for others, realizing that we can make a difference in their lives through our prayers, the idea of intercession is thrilling--but for most of us, its not easy. First, we must pray regularly and consistently, and just this initial step toward intercession can be overwhelming. Our prayer time may be rushed and shorter than we want, and as we begin to pray for others, it takes even more time. Simply getting organized can be a problem. Do we write down the names of those we pray for and their prayer requests? Is that too structured? If we dont, will we forget? Secondly, we must realize that as intercessors, we must live in such a way that God will hear and answer our prayers--confessing all known sin [Isaiah 59:2; Psalm 66:18], living the abiding life {John 15:7]. We must do this when we pray for ourselves, of course, but somehow it seems more critical when we take on the obligation to pray for someone else. Like were letting them down if we dont. And we are. The good news is, were not in this alone. The Holy Spirit lives in us, if were Gods children--just waiting for us to ask for His help. He not only makes intercession for us [Romans 8:26], but He is the Spirit of Prayer [Zechariah 12:19] within us, Who teaches us all things [1 John 2:27]. He especially wants to teach us about prayer.
Pray with me now -- Lord, thank you that we dont have to do anything without You, not even our praying. In Jesus name, amen.
